چکیده

Our research aims to explore the potential that tangible, embedded, embodied interactions (TEIs) has in enabling children’s (age 3-5 years old) active play. This paper describes our study of 66 commercially available digitally augmented toys have get children moving, and how these digital may be conceptualised as TEIs. During analysis, type persistence feedback from was an important factor conceptualisation tangible embodied. We also encounter issues when conceptualising toys, particularly for pretend play, embedded interaction. These findings offer opportunity refine definition embeddedness capture play highlights importance designing with strong physical activity.

Embodied programming with visual and tangible representations

In this paper, we discuss how meaning-making and knowledge in a particular area depends upon the representations used for expression and interaction. Based on a number of empirical examples, we discuss how new forms of representing computer programs turns the activity of programming from a mental to a largely embodied activity. With this follows that what it means to program, and to learn progr...

Learning and Interactive Tangible User Interfaces (Smart Toys)

Smart Toys allow an interaction with the user that goes beyond what a normal toy can provide. They possess the ability to learn from teachings by their owner, and it is by this learning process that an intimate bond is forged between the owner and their toy. This research looks at the the forces behind the learning process and the development of a physical device that can function as a Smart To...

Effects of Age on Associating Virtual and Embodied Toys

Technologies such as videos, toys, and video games are used as tools in delivering education to young children. Do children spontaneously transfer between virtual and real-world mediums as they learn? Fifty-six children learned facts about a toy dog presented through varying levels of technology and interactivity (e.g., video game, stuffed animal, picture books). They then met a similar dog cha...

A Design Theme for Tangible Interaction: Embodied Facilitation

This paper presents parts of a design framework for collaboratively used tangible interaction systems, focusing on the theme of Embodied Facilitation. Systems can be interpreted as spaces/structures to act and move in, facilitating some movements and hindering others. Thus they shape the ways we collaborate, induce collaboration or make us refrain from it. Tangible interaction systems provide v...
